Prepare your iPad

Recommended: iPad 9th generation or newer.

Set up the game

Before tip-off, confirm the team, opponent, and five players who are ON COURT.

IO4 requires exactly five players on court before recording a player event. The live WHO? selector will only offer those five, helping prevent a bench player from being credited with a play.

Tap the event, then choose who made the play

EVENT → WHO? → DETAIL.

Record what you see first. Tap the event, then choose the correct player from the five currently on court. If the event needs more information, IO4 asks for that detail next. You do not need to preselect or highlight a player.

Shots, free throws, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers, and player fouls use explicit player selection. Turnovers and fouls then ask for their event type.

Substitute or correct a mistake

Quick Sub keeps the eligible five accurate.

For a substitution, use Quick Sub → player OUT → player IN → Confirm. The next WHO? selector immediately uses the new five. If you record the wrong event, use Mistake / Undo and continue; you do not need to restart the game.

At halftime, stop live scoring and complete the halftime step.

You're done

The scorekeeper's game-day job is complete.

IO4 carries the evidence forward into player and team development, practice planning, the next game, tournament weekends, and season continuity. The coach stays in control of what to act on.
